Community guidelines
Last updated: Oct 7, 2026
Overlatam works because travelers share what they lived so the next one has an easier time. These guidelines protect that. They apply to posts, comments, profiles and reports.
What we expect
- Share real experiences of your own. If you didn't live it, say so ("I was told that…").
- Add dates and context. At a border, information from two years ago can be dangerous. Crossing reports include the date you crossed.
- Post in the right topic, so the people looking for it can find it.
- Treat others well. You can disagree with an idea; don't attack the person.
What is not allowed
- Spam and self-promotion. Businesses have their own profile and spaces labeled "Sponsored". You can't post as a traveler to promote your own or a paid business, or leave fake reviews.
- Insults, harassment, discrimination or threats.
- False or made-up information, especially about borders, paperwork or safety. A false alert can put others at risk.
- Other people's personal data without their permission: full names, phone numbers, addresses, other people's license plates, or photos where someone who didn't want to appear can be recognized.
- Illegal content or content that helps commit crimes: smuggling, bribing officials, how to evade immigration or customs controls, drugs or weapons.
- Explicit sexual or violent content.
- Impersonating another person, an authority or a business.
How we moderate
- Anyone can report a post or comment with the "Report" button.
- If several people report the same thing, it is hidden automatically until a moderator reviews it.
- A moderator decides: keep it, hide it or remove it. Every decision is logged.
- Depending on how serious it is or whether it repeats, the account may be suspended for 7 days, 30 days or indefinitely.
- New accounts have a daily posting limit and can't include links during their first 3 days. It's meant to stop spam, not travelers.
If you disagree with a decision
Write to overlatam.app@gmail.com explaining what happened. We review the decision again, with another team member when possible.
